4 Steps to Help You Market
So you may or may not have a product or idea you are proud of. Guess what, it doesn’t even matter if you can’t get it into the hands of the consumers. With the market downturn, consumers don’t want as much as they used to and it is causing a lot of economic battles every day. It isn’t about sustaining the poor economy, it is more about providing. If you goal is to flat line or become another number in the crowd, then keep doing what you are doing and it is easy. If you are unsatisfied with your finances, or can’t explain to your family why you are not selling as much as you can, then try read on. It is a small list compiled from a much larger topic, so use them while thinking outside of the box.
1) Use your heart and mind, not one or the other. It is important to know who your customers are, but more importantly know what it is they prefer. If you can become empathetic towards your customers and see it from their eyes, you can learn much quicker on how to make a sale. It isn’t about what you see as right or wrong, it is only about what they see as being right!
2) Be confident you will get denied. Sounds a little weird, but it is true. As long as you know that things are not always going to work out, then you more likely to bounce back on the next sale and do it faster. Same goes with marketing. Not every ad is going to be successful, but that is ok because it is more important to find the right one than dwell on those that didn’t work. Learn from your mistakes, as they are a blessing in disguise.
3) Don’t be too broad or to specific. It is challenging to find the right medium for any advertisement, but with research you can do it. Get online and find out why people aren’t buying or maybe why they don’t seem to want your product. If you can make a need for something, then you can begin to market it. The human brain can be challenged, so do it. Attempt to give people the idea they can’t live without what you have to offer. Also, sit down with your friends/family members and ask them about what ad you have or show them your product/idea. If they can’t be honest with you then I don’t know who can. They can sometimes be your toughest critics.
4) Try something different, even if it is working. No one can come complacent and expect to be the next millionaire. If you want to make it big, you have to think big. If you are out in your community selling things, stop for a week or so and get online to promote (visa versa). It isn’t about finding you niche and working with that, it is about making your niche grow larger.
