What a 7-S Framework by Micknesy actually is?

Micknesy 7-S stands for framework shared values.

Basically, it is management model or framework which describes seven factors which are to be organized by a company in an efficient and holistic way. These factors describe the way in which a company operates. The manager of the company should take into account every factor equally important and these factors are interdependent on each other. These factors describe a successful implementation of the strategy. Small or large the strategy is, if a person fails to pay attention to any one of these factors, then he is surely going to face failure. The importance of each factor vary from project to project and even time to time.

Origin of 7-S

This model was first mentioned in 1981 in “The Art of Japanese Management” by Richard Pascale and Anthos. They showed how the Japanese industries have been using this technology efficiently. Then same time Tom Peters and Robert Waterman explored that what makes a company better. The Seven S model was born at the meeting of these four people in 1978.

The seven factors are:

  1. Strategy: it defines the plans for the allocation of resources, how to reach goals, environment in which to work and so on.
  2. Structure: it defines how the various units in the organization are related to each other: centralized, matrix, top-down approach etc.
  3. Shared Values: it defines what the company stands for and what it believes in.
  4. Systems: it defines the procedures, processes and other routines to be followed for the project preparation. That is how the work should be done.
  5. Staffs: it includes the number and type of people involved in the project and also their profession.
  6. Style: it defines the way in which the manager behaves in achieving the goal.
  7. Skills: it determines the capabilities of different person and organization as a whole.
