Benchmarking


Benchmark is basically a tool to determine the ‘best practice’ in accordance to the goods and services and also inculcates the procedures for creation and delivery of those products. It determines the best standards and also identifies the set standard. However, the best practice can be identified easily within the industry or in various other industries also. Benchmarking objective lies in understanding and analyzing the present position of the firm or business organization in accordance with the best practice and also in witnessing the field of improving the performance of the firm.

The process of benchmarking includes the process of seeing outside the industry, business, firm or organization and analyzing the performance levels of other industries and understanding their process of benchmarking. By doing this benchmarking process, the criteria behind perfect performance can be obtained. As a matter of fact, when the benchmarking process is implemented properly, it leads to excellent performance of the organization in main development business areas.
