First, we have to define our product very well. Why is that? Well every market can be segmented in many different way. So you have to know your product very good in order to creat good segmentation.
Once you know your product and have it well defined, you can go and make some polls. Find out about characteristics of your market and try to get as detailed as possible.
Once you’re done with that, you have to gather all data together and summarize it. By doing that, you will be able to group people with the same or at least similar characteristics in segments.
This is more or less it. In order to make a market segmentation research, you have to gather as much data as you can about preferences and characteristics of your market in order to group them by these preferences and/or characteristics and creat good market segments for your company.
