Let’s first explain what IVA actually stands for. IVA is short for Individual Voluntary Arrangement. Now what is Individual Voluntary Arrangement? IVA is a formal and legally binding arrangement between two people. Between one that loaned the money and one that took the money. They make an arrangement, that the person who owes the money will repay just a part of the money to the loan giver. That way both parties are happier than they would be if a company who owes the money would just call bankruptcy.
IVA helps creditors to get at least some part of the debt repayed and it helps debtors to stay “alive” in the business, so it’s a financial win win situation. However you, as a debtor, must know that it is only good will of the creditor to agree on this deal. That is what voluntary means inside Individual Voluntary Arrangement, so try not to take loans you will not be able to repay.
