Organic Organization by Burns and Stalker
Burns and Stalker who coined mechanistic organizations led to creation of another term organic organizations in end of 1950s. Organic organizations are basically flexible and values external knowledge. Organic organizations are sometimes also referred to as organism organizations and are a type of organizational structure which is widely assayed, but never existed practically as when compared to the mechanistic organization, it possesses the least hierarchy and function specialization. In order to be organic, an organization should have its employees leveled equally with no issues of job classifications or descriptions, and have communication so as to own a network like in hub form.
The Organic Organization Burns expands on power of personalities, communication and on absence of the rigid procedures. It has the ability to react to certain situation instantaneously and quickly to the changes in given environment, hence, is considered to be adaptive form of organization.
D. A. Morand defines an organic organization as a flexible, fluid network of multiple talented individuals who are responsible to perform various tasks. Teamwork is the main attribute of organic organization. If an organization entertains the demands of their employers then it is considered to be dependent and such an organization is known as organic organization. As the needs of employees, their views and ideas are taken into account in an organization, this further leads to teamwork and group leadership. Often group leadership is considered to be of more importance in comparison to individual leadership as in group leadership people work in a group and monitor the environment instead of single person assigning tasks to everyone to fulfil the goals. Now, because of the fact, that an organization welcomes the ideas of its employees, it has opened the doors of creating teamwork among them. Thus, using organic organization created by Burns in a way benefits the employees and turns to be an incentive as now they perform the best of their talent.
